From early beginnings, Benhur's founder was always enchanted by the arts. An early exposure to instruments like the Casio keyboard and the guitar transformed a passion for poetry into a lifelong pursuit of music. Inspired by iconic bands like REM, Nirvana, and Pink Floyd, he ventured into songwriting, bridging poetry with melody. Throughout his university years, while studying psychology, his love for music production grew as he experimented with digital recording.

A pivotal change in musical direction came during his mid-20s. Although deep into law studies at Western University, he felt a stronger connection to music. Immersing himself in open mics and collaborations, he rapidly penned numerous songs. A chance encounter with an A&R manager solidified his belief in a potential music career. Yet, prioritizing education, he completed law school and embarked on a full-time musical journey by age 27.

By 2008, Benhur was born in the bustling Toronto music scene. Their debut EP, Tryst, showcased the talents of Arnold Pereira, Pierre Desjardines, Emilio Guim, and Chris White. The band's evolution continued, and by 2011, a refreshing lineup emerged featuring Mateus Macedo, Danilo Baracho, and Steve Frise. Not just bandmates, they became a close-knit family.

Between 2011-2015, the band saw commendable achievements. They released Between Flower and Hive, earned nominations, played international shows, and received significant radio play and media placements. Their dedication to music remained unwavering despite the challenges of the evolving industry landscape.

By 2018, with an arsenal of over 120 new songs, a desire to personally narrate his journey led to solo ventures. Downside Up, entirely produced in a home studio, marked a new era. Speedy follow-ups like Intrinsic and Break From Reality showcased the benefits of individual creativity, particularly during the trying pandemic times.

Looking ahead, Benhur is poised for exciting ventures. With plans for more solo projects, like the anticipated "Nexus", and collaborative albums, including "Promorphism", the horizon looks bright. Embracing the essence of music without the pressures of commercial outcome, Benhur believes in cherishing the creative process. After all, it's about enjoying the journey and finding joy in the striving.
